Probability Simulator

A probability is the long-run relative frequency of an outcome. In the short run, anything can happen. Run a simulation and watch how long the run has to be before the relative frequency settles.

Challenges

  1. Estimate the probability that two dice sum to 7 with 50 rolls, then with 5,000. Compare both to the exact answer.
  2. After 10 flips the running proportion of heads is often far from 0.5. After 1,000 it rarely is. What does that say about short runs?
  3. Find the event among the choices with the smallest probability. How many trials did it take before your estimate was within 0.01 of it?
