Lab

Who Can We Generalize To? What Caused It?

Two questions decide what any study can claim. Were the individuals randomly SELECTED from the population? Then results generalize to it. Were treatments randomly ASSIGNED? Then a difference can be blamed on the treatment. This lab gives you studies one at a time and asks you to make the call.

Challenges

  1. Get eight studies in a row right.
  2. Explain why a randomized experiment on volunteers supports cause and effect but may not generalize to all adults.
  3. Describe a study design that would allow both conclusions for a question you care about.
