Why the answer is D open once you have picked

Political socialization is how people form their political values and beliefs. Family is usually the strongest early influence, with schools, peers, religion and the media adding to it over time. Because children often pick up their parents' party and views, the process is a main way values pass from one generation to the next.

Each choice

  • A. Government rules on the use of private property are regulation or eminent domain, not socialization.
  • B. Governments communicating with each other is diplomacy or intergovernmental relations.
  • C. Measuring public attitudes is polling. Socialization explains where those attitudes come from, not how they are counted.
  • D (correct). Political socialization is the passing of political values to new generations through family, school and other influences.
  • E. This takes socialization in its everyday sense of training for life or work. In government, the term is about political values.
