Run the numbers before you memorize them
AP Business with Personal Finance is new this year, and its exam asks you to work with real-looking financial statements, budgets and business decisions. The labs here let you change a price, a cost or a payment and watch what happens to profit, savings and net worth.
AP Business with Personal Finance Exam Tuesday, May 4, 2027
Units
Unit 3 has two parts, one on personal saving and borrowing and one on business finance and accounting. Unit 5 is taught alongside the Financial Advisor Project and has no multiple-choice weighting of its own.
Labs
Each lab is a working model of something the exam asks you to analyze: an income statement, a household's money, a decision between two options.
- Topics 3.4 to 4.2 Income Statement Builder Change price, sales and costs, and watch every line of the income statement and every margin respond.
- Topics 3.1 to 5.1 Household Budget, Savings and Debt A monthly budget, a savings account that compounds and a credit card that charges APR, all adding up to net worth.
- Topic 4.3 Decision Matrix Choose between two courses of action: weight the criteria, score each option, and see which way the reasoning points.
The exam
The exam is fully digital. Its free-response section includes a question about your own Business Canvas Project, plus a personal finance scenario, a business data question and a business decision.
