Spring and Pendulum Lab
Both systems are released from rest at their amplitude. Pick a system and a graph, then change one slider. Decide first whether you think the period will change.
Challenges
- With the spring, double the mass. By what factor does the period change? Use the readout to check the square root in the equation for the period.
- With the spring, double the amplitude. What happens to the period, the greatest speed and the total energy?
- Switch to the pendulum and change the mass. Which readouts move and which do not?
- On the energy graph, find a time when the kinetic and potential energies are equal. Where is the block at that moment?
